Peak Season! October 19th premiere!

Hi!

There's a new MTV show revolving around the action and drama of 6 local "Whistlerites".. (someone that's lived in Whistler, BC, Canada for more than 3 days).. which will be airing on Oct. 19 on MTV Canada, as well as on MTV.ca
This show features lots of our friends, as well as music by Animal Nation, AS WELL AS a few guest appearances by Animal Nation, including parts of our performance from the 2009 World Ski and Snowboard Festival!

I also voiced the trailer, as can be seen here!

Make sure to check out all the excitement at the official Peak Season web site.

The show features plenty of super cute Whistler girls, and also features our good friend Dre Morel, who we interviewed a few months ago, and who MTV interviewed recently as well!

Pictured: Super Cute Whistler Girls!

From left to right:

Lauren Horton: The Wild Card - Lauren will punch you in the face, steal your boyfriend, and make you wish you were her, all at the same time.
Elle Hetherington: The Transplant- Elle is the typical Australia/Whistlerite that... well... I don't know Elle personally, but most Australian girls are sluts.
Steph Just: The Shredder / The Local - Born and bred Steph Just will do just about anything to get the gold, and go home with the prize money. Amazing rider, and even better humam being. Also good at getting in cat fights.
Amanda Scheller: Self described as "........" - I don't really know anything about Amanda. I've never met her. She used to go out with our friend Dre, but now she goes out with some dude with a pony tail...

Carmen and Camille, an Interview with...

Carmen and Camille, much like burnt waffles, are kind of ridiculously hot. Alternatively, unlike burnt waffles, Carmen and Camille have written an album full of hits that have been featured everywhere from The Hills, to Billboard, to Elle Magazine, to my headphones, to your speakers.
That being said, when it comes to Carmen and Camille vs. a stack burnt waffles, what would you rather eat?

Steige: What are you wearing right now?

Carmen: Well the honest answer is jeans, a t-shirt and sandals but that's not very exciting now is it?

S: Skimpy lingerie and stilettos?? You dog, you! Ok ok... on a more serious note... my girlfriend likes girls, by which I mean, I’m trying to convince my girlfriend to like girls. How would Carmen and Camille go about convincing a girl that kissing other girls is fun?

Camille: I'm sure once she tried it there would be no going back. Lesbians really are the smartest people in the world.. but getting her to try it is the hard part I guess. Good luck with that.

Steige: What’s been the best or worst or craziest or most standout live show you've played so far?

Carmen: The best live show for me was probably in Egypt... we were there for a military tour and we performed outdoors for a couple hundred soldiers in the middle of nowhere at an army base. It was very surreal. And the people were so supportive, they let the soldiers stay out an extra hour after so we could sign stuff and meet people. Good times. That was also the show though that Camille kept electrocuting herself on her mic cause something wasn't grounded properly. That got fixed eventually lol.

Steige: If you were the biggest person in the world, ever, like Paul Bunyun sized, what would be the first thing you would do?

Camille: I think I would join a circus and travel the world... Being a carnie might be fun.

Steige: What about if you were the smallest person ever? Like, mouse sized.

Carmen: I would record an album with my little mouse voice which would obviously sell millions cause no ones doing that right now.

Steige: On a scale of 1 – 10, what’s your favorite number?

C & C: Definitely 2...

Steige: Anything else you’d like to mention?

C & C: Tell your girlfriend to call us ;)

Steige: Wow. Alright.

Billy the Kid, an interview with.

It's raining, it's pouring, and all the golfers are stuck indoors... which is awesome, because now I get to go run around on the golf course, and rip into my harmonica as loud as I want, and no grey-haired, trouser-wearing, collared-shirted old Slicey McHackersons are gonna get all "You keep that down, you quick-tipped little whipper-snapper!" while pumping their golf club in the air, and furling their brows, and sipping on their tumbler of scotch, and they're out living it up, and the only time I'm allowed on the golf course is when it's raining really really hard, and.. umm... here's an interview I did with Vancouver's Billy the Kid.

Billy the Kid is the first person to send us answers in the form of pictures and video, and I think you're going to think it's pretty fun. That being said, Billy is basically a nerd's wet-dream-come-to-life, and I'm pretty sure she could have sent us death threats and we would have considered them 'fun'.
Make sure to check out her myspace page NOW! to listen to her super catchy tunes, and perv on see more of her photos.

1. What’s your favorite television show theme song?

2. How does your own ‘Billy the Kid’ theme song go?

Varying degrees of the following featuring different lyrics:

3. You’ve got DIY music ethics, you’ve got the nerdy-yet-totally-hot librarian look going for you. How many thousand times a day do people ask you if you’re the newer, younger, better lookinger Lisa Loeb?

4. Which of your tattoos is your favorite? Why?

He's my lucky star. Every time something good happens, I thank my lucky star.

5. Which of your tattoos has the worst story behind it?

I got my first tattoo at 16 years old in a kitchen.

6. Who’s your favorite cat/mouse combo?

7. What’s your favorite thing ever, ever?

This guy:

8. What’s your favorite breakfast cereal? Who’s your favorite breakfast cereal mascot?

9. Anything else you’d like to mention?

April 16 - Weekly Artist Interview - DJ Laura C-Chord

DJ Laura C-Chord has a show at Breakthruradio.com called The Scenic Route.
Breakthruradio.com rules because The Scenic Route rules, because DJ Laura C-Chord rules.
Rulers work by measuring the space between distances, giving you an accurate readout of exactly how far apart the 2 distances in question are. Rulers are completely accurate nearly every time, because nearly every ruler ever made is equal, all around the world. "Ruling", on the other hand, is completely subjective, and is put into play whenever and wherever the heck I feel like it. And since I say that DJ Laura C-Chord rules, then I guess it must be true.
All around the world.

Steige: If it were up to you, if Laura was Queen of the World for a day, what would DJ stand for?

Laura C-Chord: Hmm, I don't know if the acronym for DJ would be my biggest concern if I were Queen of the World, but if I had to choose, I would say...Fucking Awesome. So what if it doesn't start with D or J, I'm the Queen of the World. That's how I roll.

S: What about if the acronym was changed to L.A.U.R.A.?

L: Lively And Unbridled Ravenous Audiophile.

S: If God was a L.A.U.R.A. what type of music do you think he'd spin?

L: Without getting into an existence of God argument, I'll say that he or she wouldn't have to spin anything. They'd tune into The Scenic Route. Why mess with perfection? Hahaha...

S: I guess if you were Queen of the World you would essentially be God of all music... so it would only make sense to play your show! Then you could play whatever music you wanted!
Next!
Who's your favorite character from your favorite TV show, book, or movie, and why?

L: That’s a toughy, but I think that Tina Fey’s character from the TV show 30 Rock is my favourite, mostly because I think she’s really relatable, at least for me. She's awkward, loves food, has a good sense of humour, always has a ridiculous story to tell, and oh so much more. Really any character that exhibits extreme awkwardness has a place in my heart, as I too can be unbelievably awkward sometimes.

S: Haha! Yay for random awkwardness!
Cadbury Creme Eggs: Special Easter treat, or Money-Hungry Marketing Ploy?

L: Money Schmoney... What's my special Easter treat? A new Animal Nation album??

S: As long as your Easter falls on May 24th! ...That being said, we just got our new albums back from the printing place YESTERDAY, and there's definitely something being processed through the Canadian mail system for you as we speak.
Without checking Google, how did chocolate eggs get tangled up in the whole 'deathing and re-birthing of Jesus' thing?

L: According to my friend Ashley, who is like Google, but hotter: Eggs and rabbits are symbols of the Pagan goddess Oestera, who is the focus of the Spring Equinox celebration which happens around Easter. Also, I will take any excuse to eat chocolate.

S: Everyone always shies out of this question... How many cats does it take before someone becomes a crazy cat person?

L: I don’t necessarily think that a “crazy cat person” needs to have more than one cat to be considered crazy…it all lies in the obsession that some people have with their cats. Those who get portraits done of their cats, revolve their lives around them, and talk about them like they are newborn babies to anyone who will listen…that makes you a crazy cat person.

S: Someone once told me that everyone's a little bit crazy. What kind of crazy do you have hiding inside of you?

L: I don't think I really hide my craziness. I'm fairly high strung, and crazy enthusiastic about pretty much everything. I usually add sound effects to my daily life, various grunts and groans and dramatic sighs…is that crazy?

S: If that's crazy then I sure hope to heck I'm not normal! Anything else you want to talk aboot?

L: The fact that you used "aboot". I love it. I could do some shameless self promotion, but I already did that in question two.

S: Too modest to even shamelessly promote herself twice! Bless her heart!
Buuut since she didn't I'm gonna have to.
Make sure to check out both Breakthruradio.com as well as Laura C-Chord's amazing show on said site, The Scenic Route today!
They have tons of downloadable podcasts full of amazing new music, and her friend/work-mate DJ Emily totally has a super sexy voice.
Fun fun fun!

April 2 - Weekly Artist Interview - Paige Harley

Paige Harley. - paigeharley.com
Sounds like a motorcycle... that's powered by rockets... and it's got cameras on it, capturing everything, all the time... and there are robot-sharks that shoot lasers from their eyes attached to it... and there's probably a couple rainbows that follow it around wherever it goes too.
That sounds fun.
That sounds like so
mething I'd like to ride.

Steige: Is your name made up? It sounds made up.

Paige Harley: You bet it’s made up! Wouldn’t you be jealous though if it wasn’t? The person that made it up gave it to me on the condition that it sounded like a rock star name, and I had to live up to it… being a photard kinda stomped that dream.

Steige: I don't believe you....
Forget the rule of thirds, I want to know about the rule of fifths! (A fifth is one fifth of a quart of alcohol, or a two-six for the cheese heads out there, but calling it a two-six kinda ruins the joke... much like explaining the joke.) Back to the rule of fifths... what's your favorite drink, and how many of those would I have to buy you before you'd drop your guard and let me take advantage of you?

PH: I’m such a beer victim. After being in Ireland I’ve developed an unquenchable thirst for Guinness. I try not to drink too much of it thought cuz it’s like a turkey dinner in a can. Usually I just stick to vodka waters. Take advantage?? Flatterer.

S: What has been the best or worst or craziest shoot of your career so far? Why?

PH: I’m not sure if I would call it a career. A failing attempt to love your job maybe….. The craziest shoot of my life was with guitar extraordinaire Barry Jones. He needed an album cover so we went for a walk in downtown Vancouver with the idea of some interesting candids. We ended up scaling the outside of a 30 story apartment building that was under construction. We took nude shots of Barry and his guitar. His feet were dangling over the edge, and the traffic way down below made crazy light trails.
Getting a group of boys to take off all their clothes while leaving one in a banana costume is always fun too.

S: You shoot both film and digi. What do you tell the filmophiles that say digital is for chumps, and will never reach the quality of film? What do you tell the new school cats that tell you to get a digi, and step into the 90's?

PH: Oh man! Filmophiles is my new favorite word! You may have just killed photards. If I could afford to shoot nothing but film, I would. But digital allows me to screw up….lots. So to the wonderful filmophiles I say “take me with you!!!!!”. And to the new school digi whores I say “screw you and Canon sucks.”

S: Pff, whatever. My Canon could totally out-face-detect your Pentax any day....
"I love your stuff! I bought one of your photos at your last exhibit, and it totally completes the room I put it in! You should come by sometime and check it out!" Does that ever work? If so, I, uh, just bought one of your photos, and...

PH: That line is sooooo lame. Especially since I’ve never had an exhibit…yet (grad show coming up! www.langaraphotograds.com ) That would make the person a liar! I would, however, be totally impressed if someone went to all the effort to steal one of my photos and print it off themselves. Waaaay more effort.

S: You know there's going to be houses full of your stolen-from-facebook photos now, right? If you were a Ninja Turtle, which one would you be, and why?

PH: Michelangelo is by far my favorite. I feel so close to him I’m just gonna call him Mikey. He looks great in orange plus he has the best sense of humor of the dole. Plus nunchuks????? Hands down, I’d be Mikey.

S: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and _______.

PH: Pentax!

S: You're cute.

PH: I can’t believe how unprofessional you are!!!!!!! I am a human being! Not an object to be gawked at!

S: Right.... Anything else you want to say?

PH: You're cute.
